Welcome to the Toronto Organ Preservation  Laboratory (TOPL)!

Our research is focused on exploring new techniques of liver, kidney, and pancreas preservation for organ transplantation. We have developed novel models of normothermic ex vivo graft perfusion as preservation technique that allows prolonged organ storage without causing injury due to lack of blood supply. In addition, warm perfused organ preservation maintains the metabolism of the grafts during the preservation time, which offers new opportunities for graft assessment and repair.

We believe that our research will allow us to further improve the outcome of organ transplantation and provide our transplant patients with better life saving grafts.
